Prior to the advent of the modern world virtually all civilizations were based on and informed by various Astrologically based world-views. Quite often the rulers of such cultures/civilization consulted their Astrologers as to what were the most auspicious course(s) of action to take re the political and culturally challenges they were confronted with.
As far as I know Astrologers are still used as sources of guidance in some parts of the world
- India for instance.
There are numerous astrological and numerology references in the Bible including the "New" Testament.
